Jump to Latest Follow. ed Apr 3, ed Nov 11, Express is the base model Hemi less most options. Big Horn you get this and some other stuff the OP checked off. Is the suspension, drivetrain the same?
ed May 2, Should be if they are both the same config 4x4 or 2X4. Big Horn comes with nice cloth interior and the seats should be powered adjustable.
A Big Horn should have a V plug outlet in the dashboard and comes with a power sliding open rear window. My Big Horn has power folding mirrors, which is nice when you want to pull them in tight against walls, drive up windows, car wash.
The side door panels are also much nicer with additional storage and come in 2 tones vs the solid plastic ones in the express. There were also a lot more options to add to a Big Horn too. I ride in my friends Express a bunch, he and I like my Big Horn interior much better.
ed Oct 27, Bells and whistles mostly ed Oct 22, The transfer case on the express will be a part time shift on the fly, no 4 auto setting. The BH will have the tc with the 4 auto mode. There's more hard plastic on the interior of the express, and it's bench seat only. The BH can have bucket seats, soft touch plastics, better guages depending on optionsand a few other bits and pieces.
The BH can have the uconnect 8. The Express is 3. I'd rather have a BH as a dd, but an Express would be a fine second vehicle. ed Jun 11, ed Nov 15, Inside is more basic on Express, door panels, seats, dash, etc and Bighorns have usually chrome bumpers. Express has painted to match front and rear. ed Jun 4, One of the big differences for me was the painted plastic front bumper on the Express; the Big Horn has the chrome metal front bumper. How can we forget the upper glove box too; the express has a gaping Bighorn MT wife swapping in the dash where the Big Horn has an actual upper glove box I was very happy with my express, but then I sat in a Big Horn and I LOVE the huge center console; I stowed maps, snacks, and a whole bunch of stuff in the center console on or cross country trip that wouldn't have come close to fitting in my express.
The power seats are nice, unless you want to recline quickly for a nap, then I like the manual seats better. The gauge cluster in the Big Horn is great for towing; I can monitor the actual temps of the oil, trans, and coolant; it's a much nicer gauge cluster. With that said, if you are "girthy" you may find the center console a bit confining. My brother is about and 6'2; he looks quite uncomfortable. I'm 6'2 and and I fit very comfortable.
My dad did not like the glovebox in the Express but you can add the door pretty easily.
You can get a BH with a front bench, I wanted one but couldn't get it off the lot. The gauge cluster is awesome, especially if you have the trailer brake controller. The metal bumper the Tradesman, Outdoorsman and Laramie Longhorn are metal but painted not chrome is also huge; if I didn't have a metal bumper then I would be on 3 or 4 instead of 2. ed Dec 9, The Express has a basic Instrument Cluster, but for extra money they could be bought with the 7" Cluster That to me was the biggest advantage of buying the Bighorn, i believe they only came with the 7" Cluster.
ed Jan 23, ed Aug 9, ed Dec 27, Thunderhorse said:. The BH will only have an 8 speed mated to the Hemi. The BH has more options, but a lower payload and towing capacity because of all the extras on it.
NevadaMike said:. My brother has a BH and it had the 6 speed paired to his hemi. My tradesman has faster acceleration because of the 8 speed. ed Oct 10, If a bench seat is a must I beleive you can get it up to and including the Laramie model. You can get it with leather. WVdan said:. ed Feb 22, I had a13 express and now 16 big horn. the discussion.
